Caritas Burkina Faso
In 1956, the Voltaic delegation of Secours Catholique settles on the territory and in 1961, is created the Voltaic Caritas. From 1973, the social pastoral of the Church-Family of God in Burkina Faso is implemented by the Caritas Voltaica and the Office of Studies and Liaison (BEL). For a harmonization and an efficiency of the actions, the two structures merge giving birth to the association OCADES (Catholic Organization for Development and Solidarity) Caritas Burkina in 1998. It is recognized of public utility in 2013.
It covers the entire national territory with 15 diocesan offices and more than 150 parish dismemberments.
As a church service, OCADES relies on the social doctrine of the Church and advocates the following values: the preferential option for the poor, the dignity of the human person, the protection of the goods of creation , people's empowerment, closeness to people, competence of the heart, complementarity between men and women, transparency and social justice.
Its ambition is to act to create a more just and supportive world, it contributes to this project by dedicating itself to development, emergency and advocacy activities.
